PAPER MACHE
There
are many ways to do art. One way is paper mache. Paper mache is when
you make a special project with strips of newspaper and a special
kind of paste. These are the things you need to make paper mache:
*newspaper
*a
base
*paper
mache paste (you need 3/4 white glue and 1/4 water to make paste)
First,
you rip up strips of newspaper. You should rip it up and not cut it
because if you rip it up it will lay smoother. Then, to make the
paste mix 3/4 white glue to 1/4 water. Next, you can pick a base
like a balloon, cardboard, and ect. You can mostly use anything laying
around your house for a base. Next, you need to dip your strips of
newspaper in your paste and stick them on your base. You should at
least have four layers of the newspaper on your base and you should
over-lap the pieces of newspaper. Let each layer dry before adding
another one. Make sure the last layer will dry completely. After your
last layer is dry then...VIOLA! You have made paper mache. If you
want to paint your paper mache then you should make your last layer
with white computer paper or a paper towel so that painting is
easier.
Thank you so much for telling make how to make paper mache! Also I have a question, when we mix the glue and water in a bowl can we still reuse the bowl for other paper-mache crafts but not for cooking? Thanks - Jade
ReplyDeleteWow Sylvia. You are a true artist. I remember in art class, we did the same thing too. It's fun because there is goo on your hands. What have you made with paper mache? Thanks-Grace
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sylvia! I really love your blog, and i hope to see more posts soon! One thing that i was wondering was how long does it take the paste to dry? Also, please check out my blog at http://vyas26.blogspot.com/ for more information on art!
ReplyDeleteIt at least takes 2 days to dry. But, it is totally worth it!
DeleteHey Sylvia, I really think you picked a great topic. There are two questions I wanted to ask: 1. Can you make your paper mache a another shape than a circle? How?. 2.How come ripping the paper makes the newspaper lay smoother? By the way this is Vaidehi, please check out my blog- www.swimsocc.blogspot.com! Thanks.
